The residents of south west Sydney are predominantly migrants, international students, temporary visa holders, and working class people, and they’re mostly people of colour. South west Sydney is full of essential workers, so they can’t work from home. They’re working in aged care, packing supermarkets and warehouses with fresh fruit and veg, delivering the post, making and delivering food, on the frontlines of our woefully under-resourced hotel quarantine. 

These communities need support to manage this health crisis, not mounted police who rarely speak the language or understand the cultural norms.
