Thriving in Colour
The Thriving in Colour program supports young people to better organise their communities, to create and co-design campaigns for change and advocate for issues that affect them.
The Program will build the power, knowledge, skills, and capacity of POC youth to lead community campaigns and drive change on the issues that affect them most.
The Thriving in Colour program sits under the first key pillar of our long term strategic plan; movement building and community development. As a tool for building a strong, informed and highly skilled community, this program imagines a world where young First Nation and People of Colour (FNPOC) are empowered, connected and hold influence. We do this by creating culturally safe spaces for participants to develop campaigning, organising and leadership skills all with a strong racial justice and intersectional lens.
As part of the program local POC facilitators use creative visioning, in addition to other innovative pedagogical exercises to help people share their stories, connect to their cultural identities, histories, and celebrate their collective strength. Young people are then given practical and actionable skills and techniques they can use to turn their visions for the future into reality.

Our objectives
- To raise awareness and educate POC youth on racial justice theory and practice
- To upskill POC youth to better organise their communities and create campaigns for change on issues that affect them
- To support POC youth in co-designing and co-creating interventions focused on racial justice
- To create opportunities for youth to plan and implement initiatives and projects around advocacy, campaigning and organising
- Train and support at least 10 young people from all across the continent each year.
