Our Training Fellowships aim to build the capacity and diversity of the predominantly white progressive sector.
In a predominantly white sector, Democracy in Colour provides training so that racial justice work is led by the people who experience racial injustice.
Our organisation is dedicated to building the capacity of affected communities to balance the scales. We run intensive training and capacity-building programs to equip people of colour around the country with the skills, knowledge, networks and courage to lead their own public advocacy work.
Some of Fellowships include:
- Two weekend residential retreats, a one day mid-Fellowship retreat and ten workshop intensives
- A community of practice established between Fellows, providing ongoing space for lesson sharing, peer support, and collaboration – increasing the speed at which Fellows learn, overcome challenges, and build influence
- One-on-one mentorship and coaching
- Networking and connection to the wider campaigning and activist movement
- Tailored personal development opportunities
- Key resources so that the cohort has an effective social change toolkit
- Ongoing needs analysis to respond to the cohort’s emerging campaigning and leadership requirements
