‘Racism out of Media’ builds on the momentum of the Racism out of Politics campaign. The campaign was launched in October 2025 with our In Conversation with Plestia Alaqad event in Sydney.
When major news outlets use racialised rhetoric to vilify, scapegoat, and divide communities of colour, it actively poisons political discourse, fuels real-world extremism, and distracts from addressing systemic issues. This campaign is a push-back against media empires that profit from division, demanding accountability to create a media landscape that reflects and serves an inclusive, anti-racist democracy.
